Open Letter to Business Owners
Dear Small Business Owner,
Congratulations! You have beat the odds. Over 50% of small business start ups don’t reach their 5th birthday, over 90% don’t reach their 10th. It is a huge accomplishment to do this and to have provided for yourself, your family and your employees families through your business.
I (Jordan) understand this because I have lived that same journey myself. I have seen both sides of it. My first company failed within 1 year and led me to declare personal bankruptcy. My second company, started 2 years later has been growing steadily for over 8 years and is on pace to do 5M in sales next year.
You have stepped off the business owner edge of the cliff just like I have, and for simply that, I respect you. In that you were able to build a working parachute on the way down I applaud you – it is not an easy feat.
I am interested in acquiring companies like yours that have a sustainable product or service that have been built with diligence and a long term mindset by their owners. I prefer “boring” industries and products because I have seen that they are the most sustainable in the long term.
